My name is Maria Kurty and I am a self-taught surface pattern designer located in a small Europian country - Slovakia, where I live with my husband and little daughter. Through my artwork I’d like to make the world a nicer and more beautiful place.

Since I was a child, I like to create and try new techniques. I am absolutely fascinated by the creative process, during which something beautiful and unique is created from nothing. I studied landscape architecture, but I have been working on digital illustrations and surface pattern design for several years. I love the endless possibilities that creation offers.

In my work, I combine traditional art techniques with digital ones. I look for inspiration mainly in nature and children's world. I prefer to create floral and abstract - geometric patterns for children and adults, especially women. My style is playful, I like minimalism, organic lines and warm colors. I mainly specialize in vector repeatable patterns, occasionally draw also illustrations and use the raster program Procreate.

I have collaborated with equally creative women, owners of successful Slovak brands. I consider the launch of my first own fabric collection "Swan Princess" in cooperation with the Slovakian Needles printer in Banská Bystrica to be one of my greatest achievements.

In 2021, I founded the brand MAROMARO with picnic blankets and other accessories for outdoor dining. My friend and I are working on publishing our own book for children.

If I am not creating, designing or painting, I do yoga, I enjoy cooking healthy meals and I spend my time with family - with my husband and little daughter. I spend a part of my year in Croatia, which I consider my second home.
